Quit With All Your Lies…The Time Problem

Attention to my night shift workers: This series will NOT be pretty, but it is very necessary.

Back in January, I wrote a blog post that discussed making your WHY bigger than your LIE. After writing this post, the message sat on my heart for a good while. As a coach, I continue to see people who start the journey to excellent health and then quit for one reason or another. What I have decided to do is to take each one of the lies that we are SO quick to tell ourselves, and dig down into them to address the underlying feelings and find the truth. It is time for us to be set free.

WARNING: This may get really uncomfortable.

One of the lies we tell ourselves is that we don’t have enough hours in the day to get healthy.

Yeah, right.

Each and every one of us has 24 hours in a day. No more, no less.

You have that much time, and so does the billionaire Oprah Winfrey. Why is she on point with her life, but you seem to struggle every moment of every single day?

The reasons are PRIORITIES and DELEGATION.

There are things that Oprah puts above anything and everything else. She values herself, her health, her quiet time, her relationships, and her purpose work are most important to her. (And there may be more things in her world that she prioritizes. I’m just sharing what I see from the outside.) She measures the opportunities that come in her path against the priorities she has in life. If they are a match, then she will add the new opportunity in. If not, she will either delegate it or let it go. No other excuses.

And believe me, I get that your life is super busy. You work at night and your family duties take up the rest of your waking moments. You hardly have time for a restroom break.

Let me ask you this….

  • Can some of the things you do (like laundry or cleaning) be given to someone else to do?
  • Can you wake up from sleep 30 minutes earlier to get a quick workout in?
  • Can you do your meal prep while you are catching up with emails or online bill pay?
  • Can you put eating well and working out on YOUR priority list?
  • Can you wake up from sleep 30 minutes earlier to get a quick workout in?
  • Can you do your meal prep while you are catching up with emails or online bill pay?
  • Can you put eating well and working out on YOUR priority list?

I believe that we all make the time for the things that are most important to us. If we say that we are too busy, then we are basically saying that it is not a priority to us.

Saying that one more time…If you say that you are too busy, then you say that your health and wellness is NOT a priority to you.

I know for a fact that isn’t true for you.

So reprioritize your time so that your internal health becomes a priority. Period.
